2020 event has been cancelled
This hugely popular annual charity event is promoted annually on Easter Monday by the Matlock Athletic Club in conjunction with Peak Rail. It is a race that initially started as a club members only 5k but has now developed into a challenging 7 mile test of speed and stamina in which runners are challenged to beat the steam hauled heritage rail service from Rowsley South Station to Matlock Platform 2 station and back. It attracts runners of all abilities from across the country and the event sells out within 24 hours of being open for registrations.
A special train departs at 9.30 a.m. and then we run our normal timetable operating for the remainder of the day.
