History of Class 25 D7659

D7659 entered British Railways service during 1966 and is particularly notable for being the last locomotive to be constructed by Beyer Peacock & Co. at its Gorton Works in Manchester before closure.

The 25 had a mainline career spanning just over 20 years which saw service based out of depots including Longsight, Willesden, Toton & Kingmoor before preservation in 1988.

D7659 has undergone an extensive overhaul and returned to traffic during 2021, operating services for the first time in 23 years.
