Eustace becomes Santa's Steam Train for Peak Rail

Santa wishes you a Merry Christmas and hopes that you will visit him in his workshop at Rowsley South Station, before boarding his magical steam train.

Due to government guidelines this year we are having to change the way we operate our Santa Specials. All tickets must be booked in advance to comply with the Governments Track and Trace system. With social distancing measures in place, there will be 50% fewer seats available per carriage. Therefore, we will only be selling seats by either social distanced tables seating 4 people or compartments which can seat 6 people maximum.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

  • In line with current Government Guidelines, families will not be able to meet Santa personally to ensure social distancing is maintained. You can still visit Santa on the station in his wonderful workshop – NEW FOR 2020.
  • Elves bearing age suited gifts will visit every boy and girl on the train.
  • Mince Pie and Hot Cappuccino for Mums, Dads, Grandmas and Grandpas (special dietary catered for please advise at the time of booking).
  • Sit back and relax whilst magicians entertain you during your journey.
  • Beautifully decorated coaches piped with festive music.
  • All Santa Trains will depart from Rowsley South Station ONLY and will run to Matlock Platform 2 (return journey). The journey will last approx. 1 hour.

FARES – PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO PRICE PER PERSON THIS YEAR

E- tickets with Coach Number and Seat Numbers will be issued within 14 days of your booking via email. You need to download, print and bring the confirmation on the date of your Santa Experience.

Compartment for a maximum of 6 people

NO Discounts, Members or Shareholders privileges, HRA passes or other concessionary tickets will be accepted.

Upgrade your experience

Upgrade your experience with a Tasty Treat Box, (not included in your fare price) prepared by our outside caters Project Dinner Party. Add it to your basket and collect from Rowsley South Station before your steam train ride to Matlock and return.

SANTA SCHEDULES

SANTA SCHEDULE ONE

9:45am

Visit Santa in his workshop between 0945 and 1045, please collect your festive mince pie and hot cappuccino from the buffet together with any pre-booked Tasty Treat Boxes before boarding the steam train ready for the 1045 departure.

SANTA SCHEDULE TWO

12:15pm

Visit Santa in his workshop between 1215 and 1315, please collect your festive mince pie and hot cappuccino from the buffet together with any pre-booked Tasty Treat Boxes before boarding the steam train ready for the 1315 departure.

SANTA SCHEDULE THREE

14:45pm

Visit Santa in his workshop between 1445 and 1545, please collect your festive mince pie and hot cappuccino from the buffet together with any pre-booked Tasty Treat Boxes before boarding the steam train ready for the 1545 departure.

Information:

  • Special requirements: At the time of booking please make sure that if you have any special dietary requirements you click the correct box (i.e gluten free).
  • Unfortunately, this year we cannot accommodate wheelchair uses on the train due to social distancing. If you require a ramp to access the train please email peakrail@peakrail.co.uk after you have made the booking.
  • There are NO toilets on the trains or Disabled/Baby changing facilities. These can be found on the Station at Rowsley South.
  • NO refreshments for purchase are available on any of the trains.
  • Buggies and Pushchairs MUST be folded down and stored in the Station building due to the shortage of space on the train.
  • DOGS: Only assistance dogs can travel on the Santa Specials.
  • The buffet on the station is ONLY available for the collection of Mince Pies, Hot Cappuccino, Pre-ordered/pre-paid Tasty Treat Boxes (please quote coach and seat numbers). NO ADDITIONAL Food will be served.

ELF AND SAFETY – ADDITIONAL MEASURES -THESE MAY CHANGE

“We’re Good to Go” Peak Rail has the official UK mark to signal that a tourism and hospitality business has worked hard to follow Government and industry Covid-19 guidelines and has a process in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

We request that if you or any member of your party is unwell with any COVID-19 symptoms that you do not attend Peak Rail and follow government guidelines pertaining to public health. If you are not able to attend and are aware in advance, please email peakrail@peakrail.co.uk

Please always observe social distancing, we are operating a one-way system. We encourage frequent hand washing, and therefore hand gel stations are available on the platform, in toilets and on the train.

 

  1. Upon arrival at Rowsley South Station please proceed to the south end and park in your designated coach number area. Please have your e-tickets printed and ready for inspection at the covered entrance at the south end of Rowsley South Station.
  2. Do I need to wear a face covering? Please bring a face mask (a limited supply for purchase will be available on the day) We request that all adults follow government guidelines pertaining to face coverings at all times on the station, in buildings and on the train, unless exempt as per government guidelines. Children under the age of 11 are not required to wear a face covering. This is a legal requirement across the country when using any type of public transport and if you do not you WILL be refused travel. Will I be able to eat on board? If you are wearing a face mask, you are permitted to remove it to eat or drink and we kindly request that you put your covering back in place once you have finished.
  3. You will be greeted by our friendly team members who will ask to check your temperature, and offer you hand sanitiser.
  4. Will Santa and his Elves be wearing face coverings? Santa and his Elves, together with Peak Rail staff and entertainers will be wearing face coverings as required in line with government guidelines and in line with our risk assessment. We reserve the right to make changes depending on the government guidelines at the time.
  5. How often are the trains/buildings cleaned? Trains/building are subject to enhanced cleaning and sanitised in between departures from Rowsley South Station and at the start and finish of each operating day.
  6. What happens if I arrive late? Due to the track and trace system and the need to comply plus limited capacity, we are unable to offer on the day changes to your ticket. Therefore, we will be unable to offer you a ticket transfer for the same day. Please Telephone 07876 383627.
  7. On arrival back at Rowsley South Station please depart the train and exit the station via the ramp at the North End as quickly as possible.
  8. Can I have a refund? Once the tickets have been purchased Peak Rail will NOT refund tickets (including illness, cancellation, weather conditions, or changes in Covid-19 government guidelines but not limited to).
  9. Can I alter my booking? Once a booking has been taken no alterations can be accepted by Peak Rail. (i.e. adding people or changing the date or time).
  10. Every effort with be made to provide the Santa services as advertised, sometimes circumstances outside our control may force us to amend the schedule or vary any of the provisions of the Santa Experience. Peak Rail reserves the right to amend or vary without prior notice.
