This page explains the way in which Peak Rail plc and the Peak Railway Association Ltd work together to ensure the success of the railway.
Peak Rail plc (PR) operates the railway which is owned by its shareholders.
The Peak Railway Association Limited (PRA) was formed to bring together those interested in supporting the railway.
All the working staff of the railway report to Peak Rail, the majority of staff are unpaid volunteers who must in addition be current members of the PRA Ltd.
The day to day operations of Peak Rail and the Peak Railway Association Ltd are run by a Board of Directors that are elected by their respective members (or shareholders). Co-ordination is facilitated by having some Directors who sit on both boards. The Directors of PR sets the strategic goals for the railway and directs the activities of the volunteer workforce.
The PRA organises various social and fund raising activities for members and volunteers through its branches.
Any profits that arise in either organisation are ploughed back into the railway to ensure its continued enhancement. Membership of the PRA Ltd and shareholdings in PR are encouraged at all levels.
