The Buxton Branch meets at the Old Hall Hotel, The Square, Buxton SK176BD which is opposite the Buxton Opera House and next door to the Crescent. The room is available from 7.00pm and the meeting will start at 7.30pm. There is no charge for attendance but we do ask for a minimum donation of £3 to cover our costs for the guest speaker and room hire. There is public ‘pay and display’ parking directly outside the hotel. The main railway station is a 5 minute walk away and there are several bus services.
Further information on the Social Evenings and other Branch activities can be obtained from Gordon Caro on 0129824687 or 07961228322
The main functions of the Buxton Branch are to support the Peak Railway Association by raising funds, volunteering to support the Peak Rail operations and helping to publicising the Railway.
In 2020 it is hoped that a working group can be formed to start a schedule of care and maintenance to the site owned by Peak Rail. This site was part of the terminus to the old Midland Railway line. Some of track bed is still in our ownership along with the bridge over Bridge Street. The platform remains but the site has been partly taken over by vegetation.
We have a keen but small Committee so would welcome an approach from anybody with a small amount of time to spare to help us fulfil our objectives and possibly expand our activities.
