What do you call a gathering of MX5s. Well on the 21st July at Peak Rail’s Rowsley South Picnic Area you could have gone for Amazing, Mesmerising, either way it’s an impressive sight to see 50+ Mazda MX5s from all eras,
super polished and lined up together, with their owners proudly standing by talking about the other rallies and events they’ve already attended this year.
But this was no ordinary MX5 event, for this rally was to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this iconic car being launched onto the market, and on top of that it was the 25th anniversary of the MX5 Owners Club.
The event itself cost the attendees absolutely nothing as the event had been funded by the owners club, so what could be better than to have a great picnic area provided by Peak Rail to park your shiny MX5, and then wonder down to Rowsley South Station to travel on the Peak Rail train, which steams on down to Matlock and back, where those who choose to take the trip can alight anywhere on the route and then hop back on the train to make it all the way back to Rowsley South.
Peak Rail operates a full timetable throughout the summer with special events and kids go free days all year round.
Why not take a peak round our website, we provide steam train rides in the Midlands, and we’re one of the most popular activities in the Derbyshire Peak District.
Our next special event is the Mixed Traffic Gala on the weekend of 10th and 11th August.
