Black Five Booked for 2020

We are sorry to say that Black Five “The Sherwood Forester” is unable to get the routed clearance to attend our Mixed Traffic Gala on 10th/11th August, 2019, but there is some good news, the engine has been booked for our Gala in 2020.

Our 2019 event will still be going ahead, and on the day there will be a selection of engines and locomotives running the line between Rowsley South and Matlock.

We will have up to six working locomotives including

  • Class 44 D8 “Penyghent”
  • Class 25 D7659
  • Kitson Lambton Tank No.29 (Courtesy of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway)
  • Beyer Peacock 1827 of 1878 (Courtesy of the Foxfield Railway)
  • Vulcan Foundry Austerity No.72

For more information visit Mixed Traffic Gala event page.

If you can’t make the event, don’t forget our trains run throughout the summer, with a number of Kids Go Free days where kids can ride a steam train in the Midlands for free.  And don’t forget we have the Shunter Hunter Enthusiast Gala coming up on September 7th and 8th
