Mess and Tool Van No. DM395923

Originally built as an LMS third open in 1936, converted to it's present form in 1965, and purchased by Peak Rail in 1989, after use in the Buxton breakdown train. Provides invaluable accommodation, transport and mobile workshop facilities for on track working parties.

BR Smith-Rodley 15t Diesel Crane No. DRS81139

Built in 1957 to works number RD1439/5, this crane was obtained for Peak Rail in 1990 from Newton Heath depot, and after a certain amount of work has been in regular use since.

LNER 36t Steam Crane No. ADRC95223
Built in 1936 by Cowans Sheldon of Carlisle, works No. 5755, for the LNER. Its initial allocation was to Colwick, later moving to Toton shed, from where it passed into Peak Rail hands in 1989. After restoration by the mechanical engineering department the crane is fully operational, and sees regular use.

Type 4B PMR Wickham Trolley No.DB6, DX68051, TR6
Built by D. Wickham & Co. Ltd., Ware, Hertfordshire in 1954. Allocated to Caersws and later Llanbrynmair from where it was sold to the Llangollen Railway Society in February 1982. Resold to Peak Rail and moved to Buxton in July 1983. Moved to Darley Dale in April 1988. One of the first pieces of rolling stock to arrive at Darley Dale.

Built in 1956 by Head Wrightson, arrived at Darley Dale in 1990, after purchase by the society.

Powell Duffryn 1961, from the SYR 2002.

Metropolitan Camell, 1959, Diagram 477, Lot 3162. Vac fitted, replaced by air braked wagons in the 1970s, and rebuilt as a crane match wagon. Sold to Corus in the late 1990s and used as an internal user at Castleton CWR depot. Appears to have gained plate bogies from an earlier diagram.

Obtained in poor condition and extensively renovated, using parts from other, scrapped, wagons. In use in the works train.

BR Dogfish Ballast Hoppers Nos. B983904 & B993076, & B992954

Built at Shildon wagon works in 1961, and by Charles Roberts ltd. in 1956, and Metropolitan Cammell in 1956 respectively. All have an active role in permanent way activities. Some restoration in 2007.

Built by Metropolitan Cammell works in 1951. From the SYR, arrived at Rowsley in 2002. Some restpration in 2007.

LMS 16t 6 wheel fish van No. ADM40294
Built at Wolverton works in 1949, later passing into departmental use. These vehicles were built 'double skinned' so as to provide some insulation for the fish traffic. This sturdy construction has ensured the survival of many.

Austrian Ferry Wagons (two of)

Both built by OBB in Linz, Austria in 1958 these wagons were built for ferry traffic between Austria and the UK. Rendered redundant in 1983, they were later purchased for Peak Rail. Under restoration.

SR Parcels & Miscellaneous Van KDS13, ex S1235S
Designed by the SECR, this example was built at Ashford in 1936. Passed into departmental usage in 1954. Arrived at Darley Dale in 1994 after rescue from a scrapyard.

Built by RY Pickering & Co Ltd of Glasgow in 1967. Since arrival at Darley Dale it has been converted to a mobile steam locomotive watering facility.

Wooden Bodied, vacuum fitted, and built in the 50s. Obtained when Burton wagon repair depot closed in early 1997.

Wooden Bodied, vacuum fitted, Wolverton built in 1955. Saw departmental use in later life in the Severn Tunnel maintenance train. Restored mainly by the Golden House Group from Matlock, and put in LNER livery.

The ex LMS were originally built in 1933, then converted for use as runners for the diesel crane and have been restored as one plank dropsides or flat wagons.

Plasser and Theurer 06-32 Duomatic Tamper No. 74407

One of 24 built by Rolls Royce in 1968, which ended it's BR days at the Derby Technical Centre. Purchased from there for Peak Rail in 1990. A special purpose vehicle, which performs levelling operations on the permanent way. In operational order.
