Whether it’s simply a nostalgic journey back to a bygone age or a discovery of the sights and sounds for the very first time of a steam train Peak Rail welcomes you in 2012 to experience the thrill of steam on our preserved railway whilst travelling through the delightful Derbyshire countryside.

The line forms part of the old Midland Railway’s line between Manchester Central and London St Pancras which was closed in 1968. A huge milestone was achieved on the 2nd July 2011 when Peak Rail extended its operations from Matlock Riverside Station to Platform 2 in the Main Matlock Station.

Peak Rail operates throughout the year and all services are currently top and tailed with steam and diesel locomotives. All trains have an on-board buffet coach and a specially adapted coach for wheelchair accommodation

The railway is home to an extensive collection of steam and diesel locomotives, historic carriages, wagons and other railway memorabilia, which is either owned by the railway, private individuals or one of our groups.

As you browse through our website you will see further delights which Peak Rail has to offer in the form of luxury dining services, hands on steam driving courses and a variety of special events for all the family.

Peak Rail would love you to visit in 2012 and we can assure you, that you will receive a friendly and welcoming experience to Derbyshire.
